Why We Built This Site
North Carolina provides several ways to inspect public record information, yet no single office holds the whole story. Buncombe County sheriff and detention staff maintain local reports, bookings, and custody data. The Clerk of Superior Court keeps filed charges and dispositions. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation maintains fingerprint-linked state criminal history, while the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry serve different public needs. This site organizes official contacts, request steps, fees found in government guidance, and direct portal routes.
What You Will Find Here
- Agency contacts: verified routes to the sheriff, Buncombe County courts, and statewide record systems
- Record guides: how to find and read a Buncombe County court case
- Official review steps: the difference between county court searches and an NCSBI fingerprint-based Right to Review
- Record relief: where North Carolina expunction forms and Buncombe County filing channels begin
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site, not part of a North Carolina court, police department, sheriff's office, or state agency. Our role has firm limits:
- We cannot issue certified court files, criminal histories, or other official records
- We cannot submit a public-record request, expunction petition, or court form for a reader
- We cannot retrieve a record or perform an official background check
- We cannot provide legal advice about a charge, warrant, conviction, or case
- We cannot promise that an office's hours, fees, address, or phone will never change
An official record must come from its custodian, such as the Buncombe County sheriff, the Clerk of Superior Court, or the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation. We can identify that office, but cannot issue its document.
Search Partners
Outside providers power search boxes shown on some pages. Each provider controls its service, results, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports the site's operation. We do not set the provider's charge and cannot control the records it returns.
